The Reason AGAINST Chinese Electronics

We’ve had a few posts about Aliexpress, buying chinese goods, and the consensus is typically good to decent. You can get a good deal, have mostly good results and pay a lower price for them.

This is the example where you SHOULDN’T buy them. See the photo? This is an example of when they use the correct gauge size, but obviously that strand of wire is maybe only 4-6 strands. For 120 volts, that’s not only dangerous, but can easily cause a fire by overheating, especially for a light.

The interesting thing is that that’s actually the cheapest thing on this light. As we cut into the components and checked the other electronics, they were standard quality. They just completely cheaped out on the wire. Once we replaced that, it was good to go and producing excellent results again.

So again, buyer beware-you get a good deal, but unless you have experience in dealing with electronics, you’re probably going to have some problems when you buy cheaper things. Also, with the pandemic going on right now, you may just want to wait on purchases direct from China.

this is how thick wires SHOULD be when using 120 volts
